    2018 Bucket List

I created a Bucket List a couple of years ago with a girlfriend of mine, but let’s be real – we didn’t really follow through with it. This year, however, I have decided to make it a goal of mine to complete at least 75% of the items on this list. I’ll post it here to start, but then I will have a link to it from the header where I’ll update it as I go through and complete items on the list, or I will go and add new items to the list as the time goes on. I seem to always stumble across things on Facebook, usually through…

    So Fresh and So Clean!

WELCOME TO THE NEW (& IMPROVED) OH MY SAMCAKE! I am coming at your from my brand new domain, ohmysamcake.com. I wanted to do something that would really solidify who I am, and what I want to produce for you. Having the “.wordpress.com” on my name wasn’t the worst thing in the world, but I really love the way it looks¬†without it. Don’t you agree? As stated in my “Ch-ch-changes” post, I have been working with a really great graphic designer named Lindsay to help put something together to represent the vibe I want to give off. A couple of back-and-forths between us, and suddenly, there it was. That was…

    Ch-ch-changes.

I've been doing a lot of behind the scenes work that you just can't see. Yet. I'm giving this place a face lift. I know I haven't been around quite that long, but I want this place to feel more homey. I want to really feel like this is a place for me to express myself and that all if you feel like you're welcome and that there is a bit of something for you here too.

Adult Friendships: Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Adult friendships are probably the hardest, yet the easiest, friendships to have in your lifetime. I refer to them as "adult" friendships because they are very different from the teenage friendships that you experience when you're younger. The minute you throw in engagements, and marriage, and kids, and buying houses, and moving cities or provinces, and all of that fun adult style stuff into your life, friendships change. When conversations used to be about what bar we were going to go to become what we bought on sale at Walmart recently, you know your life has changed.

Oh My Dating: It’s Hard, And It’s Not Fun

Dating is hard. Dating isn't fun. It's supposed to be, but let's be real - it's not. The "first date" is the worst. Coffee? Drinks at a bar? A walk by the lake? Those are standard first dates. But they're the worst. At a coffee shop? Eventually your coffee gets cold or you've drank it too fast. At a bar? You hit the point where either you've nursed your drink, or you know you can't have another drink because you're about to embarrass yourself. And the walk by the lake? You can only tell your life story for so long.

Bell Let’s Talk – End the Stigma

I used to be afraid to talk about my mental illness. I'm not anymore. I don't know if it's that I've grown stronger as I got older, but I know now that you need to share your story. You need to be able to open up, and let anyone - everyone - know that they're not alone.
