Oh My Quotes – 10 Quotes I’ve Loved Over The Years

Back in 2002, one of my most favourite movies to ever exist was released. You may find it amusing that this is in my top movies of all time, but I fell in love. The love story between the two main characters was, in my opinion, epic. You have this tough guy who drinks beer while underage, and drives a cool car, and has some serious daddy issues. And then you have her, the warm hearted Christian girl with a secret that will break everyone’s heart.

Yes, if you haven’t figured it out already – it’s A Walk To Remember. I bring up this movie because there was a scene from the movie that inspired me to do something similar. Jamie is laying in the hospital bed, and she gets Landon to hand her a book that she can’t reach. The book isn’t a novel, but rather a book full of quotes. I loved it. I wanted a book like that of my own, so I started one.

It’s where my love for quotes, and being sappy, came from. I started copying down all of my favourite quotes during the years (shout out to who was a major source for me) and would frequently look back at them when I was looking for some sort of inspiration. Whether it be for a blog post, an instagram caption, or some mysterious facebook post. I’ve decided to open up this book to you and share some of my favourite quotes over the years, and some I’ve collected since that didn’t make it into the book. I hope you enjoy!

At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.

That’s why love is madness. It’s too easy to lose your mind when you lose your heart.

Johnathan Trager, prominent television producer for ESPN, died last night from complications of losing his soul mate, and his fiancee. He was 35 years old. Soft spoken and obsessive, Trager never looked the part of a hopeless romantic. But, in the final days of his life, he revealed an unknown side of his psyche. This hidden quasi-Jungian person surfaced during his Agatha Christie-like pursuit for his long reputed soul mate, a woman whom he’d only spent a few precious hours with. Sadly, the protracted search ended late Saturday night in complete and utter failure. Yet even in certain defeat, the courageous Trager clung to the belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences. Uh-uh. But rather, it’s a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan. Asked about the loss of his dear friend, Dean Kansky, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and executive editor of the New York Times, described Johnathan as a changed man in the last days of his life. “Things were clearer for him,” Kanksy noted. Ultimately Johnathan concluded that if we are to live life in harmony with the universe, we must all possess a powerful faith in what the ancients used to call ‘fatum’, what we currently refer to as ‘destiny’.

Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.

Quotes, whether they be just words someone has spoken aloud, or from a book, or a movie – they seem to scratch their way into my soul. It sounds cheesy, and a bit sappy, but it’s the truth. I am obsessed with the words others have spoken as I try and find my own voice. This blog has been a great outlet, but I’m still working on it.
