Wednesday Weigh In: Week 1


Last night/this morning marked the end of the first week of my Wednesday Weigh In challenge. Despite thinking that it wasn’t going to go very well, I’d like to think it was a bit of a success. It’s a bit daunting to be revealing my weight on the internet – but I’ve gotten some great positive feedback saying how brave I am, and how courageous I am. I’m holding onto that and pushing any overwhelming feelings to the side and just embracing it. I’m not ashamed of my body. I’m not ashamed of my weight. I’m ashamed that I’m out of shape. Should I be at the weight I am? Probably not. My goal is yes – to lose weight – but I’m looking to get in shape. To get to a healthy weight and have a healthy body. So this is where I begin.

  4. What attributed to my loss or gain?

    a) What was my food intake like?
    Pretty average. I’ve been going on a bit of a downward spiral, but while grocery shopping on Saturday I definitely made some better choices. And my not so great choices? Well, it’s a constant reminder to only consume in moderation. I don’t want to completely cut myself off from the things that I love – but it’s about being aware of what you’re doing, and making sure you’re not going overboard.b) How many times did I hit the gym?
    Not ashamed to say zero. However, I will say that I got a good work out walking around the mall, and running around the banquet hall at work serving a plated dinner for 100+ people.
  5. c) Was I more weights than cardio?
    For the sake of a comparison at the end, I would say cardio, based on all the running around I’ve done. Plus, I feel like this heat is also causing me to sweat the pounds off, haha.
  6. Pictures of my progress
    I took this picture last Tuesday night as a starter for my progress. You can’t really notice much now, but the picture of me in my dress is from yesterday at work.
  7. What hurdles did I face?
    Labour Day weekend, and not having prepared myself for this challenge with a grocery shop before the week began.
  8. Goals for the next week
    Hit the gym at least twice, and start the at home program I downloaded from Morgan Bartley (morganlosing on instagram).
  9. Power quote
    “A tool is only as good as it’s user.”

I don’t know how well I’ll succeed – but if I don’t try, then I’ll never know.
