My Top 5 Binge-Worthy TV Shows

Netflix binge-watching is the new PVR.

Okay, maybe that’s only partly true for me. I use my PVR a lot, but I’ve also found myself binge-watching TV show after TV show on Netflix, and I can’t help myself. Sometimes, I even find myself watching a TV show again after I’ve already binged it once. There are some shows that are just that good. Below you’ll find a list of my binge-worthy favourites. I’m always on the look out for new shows to watch, or reminders of shows for me to rewatch. Leave those recommendations in the comments. In the meantime, enjoy some of these gems.

Grey’s Anatomy

I will never stop watching this show. I’m currently on what is likely my third or fourth time through the show. I didn’t start watching it when it first aired on ABC. I joined in a few years into the show, and then had to back track and watch the first few seasons to get myself all caught up to date.

For those that don’t know about Grey’s, it is a medical drama set in Seattle, and the storyline surrounds the lives of surgical interns, surgical residents, and attending physicians. It’s 14 seasons in, so it’s a lot of binging, but it’s always worth it. Every single time.

Queen of the South

This is my newest binge, and I’m hooked. I believe it’s got at least two season into it (I’m afraid to google it, because I don’t want spoilers) but I’m just on the first. Queen of the South follows the life of Teresa as she works for the very drug cartel that murdered the love of her life. Alice Braga is absolutely amazing as Teresa, and Peter Gadiot isn’t too bad on the eyes either. One note I will makeabout this binge is that if you would rather a show that you could have kind of on in the background sometimes, I’d probably skip QOTS – there are subtitles as sometimes they’re just speaking Spanish.

Update after writing this post: I have finished the two seasons on Netflix and it really is so damn good.

Rupaul’s Drag Race

I kid you not. This is in my top five. I had heard about the drag race through a close friend of mine (hey Alyssa!) but neveractually sat and watched it. When I was in Vancouver in May, we watched an episode at the AirBnB before heading out for our late night adventure, and I was hooked. It was all I could think about. I came home and must’ve watched the two seasons that Netflix had in record time. It’s an easy watch, and you’ll find yourself loving and hating all the sassy women.

Wentworth

I like to consider this Prison Break meets Orange Is The New Black. I say Prison Break as Wentworth has the darkness of PB, but the female prison angle from OITNB. I had heard some mixed reviews about Wentworth, but I got into it pretty quickly. The first two seasons were the better work – I started to fade a bit after that – but I think it was also because I was watching it around the time that the shows come back in the Fall last yearThere are five seasons on Netflix, so I have a few more to go. I may have to pick this back up after Queen of the South.

TheCrown

Okay, honesty? I haven’t watched this yet. I’ve only heard great things about it, so I thought I’d share the recommendation that so many have passed onto me (that I’ve yet to follow through with). Has anyone had a chance to check it out yet? I’m thinking if enough people tell me to watch it, I just might one of these days.

But there you have it – my top 5 binge-worthy shows on Netflix. Let me know if you’ve watched any of these (and how many times) and what some of your top shows are!
