Music Monday… On A Wednesday

I’ve discovered my problem with Music Monday – I don’t generally listen to music on a weekend. I listen to music while doing thrilling data entry, and I listen to music while at the gym. But on a weekend? Not so much. To make up for the Music Monday’s that I’ve been missing, I’m changing things up a little bit. I’ve put my Spotify on shuffle, and am providing you with the first 10 songs that it shuffles to. A little peek into my music taste – the good and the bad.

  1. The Hardest Part – Coldplay
I’ve seen Coldplay live more than once, and can honestly say that they are probably the best band I’ve ever witnessed in person. Chris Martin is the complete package. He is an absolute performer. What you hear on the album is nothing compared to what you get in person. If you aren’t a fan of Coldplay, I’m sitting here wondering why. They’ve gone through some small sound changes through the years, so their earlier stuff is more what I’m into, but their new stuff is just as good. If you aren’t listening to them, please, for my sake, listen to the album A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

  2. Carolina – Harry Styles
I was a little bit surprised as how much I loved Harry’s album. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a One Direction fan through and through – another band I’ve seen live. Multiple times. And I’m not ashamed to admit it. But I guess I just didn’t expect it to be that good. While Carolina isn’t my absolutely favourite off the album, it’s got a good sound to it.

  3. Bodak Yellow – Cardi B
Truth: I only downloaded this song because one of my co-workers was always snapchatting to it, and I had to experience it for myself. Another truth: It’s still in rotation.

  4. I Will Wait – Mumford & Sons
Mumford & Sons hold a place in my heart from a past relationship. That relationship introduced me to them, so I will be forever thankful for that. I Will Wait is off of Babel, but Sigh No More is where my heart is at.

  5. We’re Young and Beautiful – Carrie Underwood
Carrie! My heart! I feel like with Carrie and with Taylor (Swift), I find myself relating more to their lyrics. Carrie is a little older than me, and I’m the same age as Taylor. I don’t know if it’s the age, or just the style of country music, but I think I can pick multiple songs that I’m just like yes I feel you girl preach.

  6. Miles Apart – Yellowcard
I added Yellowcard to my library a little while ago when I was feeling nostalgic. I don’t regret it one bit. Makes me feel like I’m back in the day. Young. Free.

  7. Turn Your Face – Little Mix
I’ll be honest, this song is just on there because it’s part of the album. I haven’t listened to it at all. If I had to give Little Mix recommendations? WingsShout Out To My Ex, and Black Magic.

  8. Memory Lane – McFly
I don’t think I can name one of their songs that I don’t like. Just like One Direction, I’m not embarrassed to say that I love them. I will literally love them for life.

  9. Million Years Ago – Adele
Do I even need to explain this one?
    *Can’t locate on YouTube.
  10. Girl Crush – Little Big Town
The first time I heard this song, I fell head over heels. Harry Styles also does a great cover of it. Just an all around great song.

This is the weirdest combination of music. But I honestly can’t say I’m actually ashamed by any of it. They are just 10 artists whose music I enjoy. Whether it be something that may be embarrassing to some or not, at some point or another I’ve enjoyed these songs, or these artists.

I hope you get to find a new artist out of this list, or at least a new song by an artist you’re already familiar with.

As usual – listen, love. Let me know what you think.
