I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again – I’m a huge fan of duets. Especially when it involves these two fantastic artists. They’ve done a collaboration before, and they’re back at it again. And once again, it’s fire. It’s hot. It’s incredible. I had it on repeat yesterday, belting it out, while tidying up my room. I could literally listen to it all day long and not complain about it.
I tend to get into phases like that. I stick with one artist, one song, and obsess. But this song is so worth obsessing over.
I’ve been a huge JT fan for years. Señorita is my jam. And don’t get me started on how the rap in Like I Love You is something I can still probably do in my sleep. When he and Chris Stapleton got on that CMA stage in 2015 and did the Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away combo – I may have died a little inside. It was so damn good. And now they’re back with Say Something, and I think another part of me crumbled.
The two styles, the two voices, coming together on one song is honestly something so raw, and it instantly gets you hooked. Lyrics like these just pull you in.
Everyone knows all about my transgressions
Still in my heart somewhere
This melody and harmony
For you and me, tonight
Whoa, I hear them call my name
Everybody says say something, say something, say something
Let’s say something, say something and say something
I don’t wanna get caught up in the rhythm of it
But I can’t help myself, no, I can’t help myself, no, no
Caught up in the middle of it
When Justin started releasing his Man of the Woods music, and started with Filthy, I wasn’t sure how much I was going to love the album. But then Supplies came out. And then Say Something. And once again, this man has me hook, line, and sinker.
Listen. Love. Let me know what you think.
